Laramie, WY – We booked this campground at the last minute and the only site available was a “super deluxe” patio site, for $65/night. A bit steep for a Journey KOA in a non-resort town like Laramie, but at least we’ll have a nice patio site. And we did, but our full hookup site wasn’t so full as the sewer hookups in all the “super deluxe” sites weren’t functional. Not ideal for a 4 night stay after a 1 night dry stay at the dealer. At least they discounted the site by $20/night, so in end I have no complaints. After our 2nd night we dumped tanks by driving to a nearby site.
Our site (SD36) was fairly long, although I’m not sure a 45’ RV with tow would fit. All utilities, with the obvious exception of the sewer, worked well. Interiors roads alternate paved and gravel, so your RV and tow will get dusty at some point. Pro tip: the deluxe and super deluxe sites are the furthest away from the noise of I-80.
Laramie KOA is located about 45 minutes from the Snowy Range, and is called “Gateway to the Snowy Range”. To the east, it is about 24 minutes to the Pole Mountain. Both Snowy Range and Pole Mountain are regions of the Medicine Bow National Forest for outdoor recreational opportunities. This trip we hiked the Alpine Lakes Loop Trail and the Libby Creek Loop. Previously we have car camped and hiked from the Sugar Loaf Campground in the Snowy Range.
