2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon

Jeep Wrangler near Mount Baldy

We chose a Jeep Wrangler as our tow car for two simple reasons: 1) We like to go off-roading and 2) it’s the simplest vehicle to flat tow. 38,000 miles later (plus ~50,000 miles of flat towing), we still love it. With the Wrangler (especially a Rubicon), you’re making a conscious decision to trade comfort and fuel economy for off-road prowess. If you don’t go off-roading I cannot recommend this vehicle.

However, if you want to go where most SUVs cannot, the Rubicon is your best bet. Read this detailed post on the mods I made to make it even more formidable: off-road Jeep mods.
