Gunnison, CO – A nice park, but expensive for what you get. For $72/night in a non-resort area (it’s Gunnison, a small Western town with not much nearby) I expect certain features: concrete pads, large sites, cable TV, etc. Not here. The roads are gravel, as are the sites, with a grassy area in between sites. Our site (#7) was level and 50 AMP power worked well. The adjoining site on the passenger side was quite close.

In summary, there is nothing wrong with this RV park, it just strikes me as a $50/night park. Nearby attractions include the Curecanti National Recreation Area with Blue Mesa Reservoir to the west and access to Crested Butte, about 1 hour north of Gunnison. We did not get to spend much time at the Gunnison KOA, as we arrived over 6 hours later than intended due to a Diesel Particulate Filter issue that left us stranded along Highway 50 and left us with a $1500+ bill.
