Checotah, OK – This campground is branded as a Holiday KOA, and I would agree. There is plenty of fun for the whole family, including recreating on the co-located Lake Eufaula, feeding animals at the petting zoo, walking the lake and nature trails, and eating cobbler at the Chuck Wagon Cafe, all without leaving the campground. Very easy on/off from I-40.
Our site, #36, was long and fairly level and all utilities worked well. Interior roads were gravel. After a long day of driving, we enjoyed a 30 minute walk exploring the hiking trails and meeting some of the local residents, including 2 cows (Daisy and Molly), a burro, some geese, turkey, and ducks. The lake trail ends, appropriately, at the lake, where one could launch a canoe or fish for…what people who fish, fish for. We would stay here again.
