Albuquerque, NM – A very convenient park those traveling on I-40, and also well located for visiting the city. The campground has a great view of the Sandia Mountains. Our site was long and level and all utilities worked well. The shower facilities were clean and had good separation between the stalls. I’m always a little suspect of a campground located behind a tall security fence with a gated and guarded entry. And after looking at the sketchy area of town it’s located in, I understand why. Due to all the security, we never felt unsafe while in the campground.
For those who like taking long walks right from the campground but don’t like sketchy neighborhoods, we opted to walk in the nearby Sandia Foothills Open Space and highly recommend it. We also hiked in the Carlito Springs Open Space in Bernaillo County, a short drive outside the city.
