Toad River, BC – A very nice stop on the Alaska Highway, located between Fort Nelson and Watson Lake. They have 5 long pull through full hookup sites (as well as a number of back-in sites), gas/diesel pumps and a roadhouse with simple but honest diner fare. All sites have an expansive view of the Toad River and mountains beyond, the tips of which were frosted in snow during our late May stay. Also of note is the free wifi, which is very handy since we didn’t have a cell signal for something like 300 miles.
The claim to fame at the Toad River Service Area is their hat collection, which is displayed on the ceiling. They have over 10,000.
