We enjoyed this 6.4 mile trail with 197 feet elevation change, which runs between Surprise Corner on Buffalo Road in the town of Banff and Hoodoo Lookout near the Tunnel Mountain campground.

View from Surprise Corner, Banff National Park

It travels along the scenic Bow River and through woods filled with the Douglas Fir tree. We saw ground squirrels, red squirrels, numerous birds and some elk on this trail. The Hoodoo was a slight let down after the hoodoos we’ve seen in Utah’s Canyonlands National Park and Goblin Valley State Park.
