Custer, SD – Everything we want in a campground: heavily wooded sites, huge spaces, and a great location. We hate having to inch forward, backwards and sideways to extend all the slides around obstacles — that’s not a problem here. We were in site #26 and saw numerous woodland creatures during our stay, including deer, turkey and rabbits.
This campground is conveniently located to visit Custer State Park, Wind Cave National Park, Jewel Cave National Monument, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, and The Needles Scenic Highway. The are numerous restaurants, at least one grocery store, a hardware store and mini golf in Custer. And if you love pie, don’t miss the Purple Pie Place!
