Moab, UT – The first time we stayed here we opted for a non-premium site to save a few bucks, and ended up trading away space. The sites are very close together, and worse, the rows are very narrow. Even in a (relatively) short 32′ motorhome we could not make the turn upon leaving our “pull thru” site without backing up, meaning we had to hook up the toad in the middle of a row. The rows were also filled with extra vehicles, with some sites have both a pick-up truck & Jeep or ATV’s/ dune buggies parked in all directions. This made the narrow rows even a little more tricky to navigate.
Walking over to the much more spacious premium sites confirmed the extra bucks are worth it We stayed in these sites for our August of 2013 visits. Due to lack of vegetation (it is a desert after all), swirling dust is a constant problem.
The campground is located North of, and not particularly close to, town (10-15 minute drive depending on traffic), but it is close the road to Canyonlands National Park, Deadhorse Point State Park and to a number of Jeep/mountain biking trails if that is your thing. There are definitely other campgrounds closer to town.
