Surrey, BC – Wow, this is a huge park. Not as large as Tunnel Mountain Trailer Court, but larger than most parks. One can get their exercise without ever leaving the grounds. After experiencing weeks of questionably run RV parks co-located with gas stations and motels, it was refreshing to return to a well run dedicated park. My favorite part of check-in was interacting with the resident cat greeter, which loves tummy rubs. It also thought a fancy water feature (a wall fountain) in the lobby was its personal water dish.
The entrance to the RV park is off a narrow road with very steep ditches, and the turn in cannot be accomplished while another vehicle is trying to exit. In addition, the roads throughout the park are somewhat narrow considering they are two way. Not a deal breaker, but also not ideal for big rigs, which is why I’m giving this campground only 4 stars.
The location is about as close to a city as an RV park can get. It’s only a 30 minute drive to the ferry to Victoria on Vancouver Island and a 20 minute drive to the King George station to catch a Skytrain into downtown. There are numerous restaurants, grocery stores, and walking trails within a 10 minute drive. Unfortunately there is nothing within (easy) walking distance.
Our site was long and level and the hookups worked fine. I’m slightly disappointed that 50 amp electric isn’t offered here, at a year round campground near a major city. In this day and age of all electric motorhomes and huge amperage draws, dealing with 30 amps is a bit of a pain. First world problems, I know. There are also a large number of permanent residents here, some with fencing, gates, landscaping and even hot tubs. Not a downside, just not expected. I also find it strange that they charge additional for showers after already charging $45/night for the RV. On the other hand, the laundry facilities had the least expensive prices we encountered all trip.
