Quesnel, BC – This establishment is both a motel and an RV Park, and much like the classic SNL Floor Wax and Dessert Topping skit, neither is very good. I’m trying to think of the positives about staying here, but I haven’t come up with any. The roads in the park are clearly not designed for large class A motorhomes. We had to unhook the toad to make 3 point turns just to navigate the campground roads, and even then low hanging branches were unavoidable. Granted, this would not be a problem in a smaller rig.

The majority of sites are occupied by long term residents with RVs in a questionable state of repair, although a few RVers were just passing though like us. We had low voltage for entire stay, never seeing a number above 115 volts and often down to 110. This is the exact reason we always use a surge protector with both low and high voltage cutoffs before connecting to the pedestal.

The other challenge at the Airport Inn Motel and RV Park was noise. There is the expected road noise of being next to the Cariboo Highway. Additionally, there were numerous trains that traveled through on the tracks which run next to the highway and there was noise from a lumber processing facility. The lumber plant ran 24 hours per day/7days per week and included the sounds of heavy equipment with the loud beeping in reverse, trucks coming and going, and large piles of lumber being dropped onto bigger piles. Our current RV has very good noise reduction compared to our earlier units and this was the loudest place we have camped.
