For the child in all Christmas lovers, naughty or nice, a stop in North Pole Alaska should be on your list. Located about 12 miles east of Fairbanks, it makes a quick side trip. As Mike correctly pointed out, it is a tourist trap. But, it is North Pole (just not “the” North Pole). The main attraction is Santa Claus House, with its giant 42 foot Santa statue, Santa and his sled, and the Antler Academy. The Antler Academy is where reindeer go to “learn flying and reindeer games”. There is a shop with a large selection of Christmas ornaments and decorations. Street names in North Pole include Santa Claus Lane and Kris Kringle Drive. There are special events throughout the year.
