Watson Lake, YT – This RV park makes up for lack of aesthetics by its prime location, which is indeed downtown. The park is pretty much just a large gravel parking lot with hookups — nothing fancy, but the sites are large and level and ingress/egress couldn’t be easier. But for weary travelers who try to avoid unhooking the tow car, the location revels itself as ideal. Just 1 block up the road is the famous signpost forest, an amazingly large collection of signs from all over the world placed by visitors to the Yukon — a practice that began during the construction of the Alaska Highway in 1942. An even shorter walk brings you to the only grocery store in town; a restaurant and hardware store are across the street.
Just a short 5 minute walk from the park is First Wye Lake, which has a 3 km loop hike around the lake. This is the perfect hike to stretch tired legs after being cooped up for two sold days of driving.
