Bend, OR – A great campground once you get to it. It’s located close to town in a pleasant, wooded setting, with restaurants and shops within walking distance. Our space was tight and took a bit of maneuvering to gain access, but was level and perfectly acceptable once in. Driving though town to get to the park was the fun part, in part because of road construction and in part because of tight turns. It’s certainly doable in a 40′ MH, but more work than your typical RV park off an interstate.
We visited Crater Lake National Park while staying here. Newberry National Volcanic Monument, Three Sisters Wilderness, Oregon Badlands Wilderness, and Deschutes National Forest are nearby. John Day Fossil Beds National Monument make a great day trip. The High Desert Museum offers a wildlife preserve and museum of western culture and history. We plan to go back to this area for hiking and more exploration. We like Brittany Manwill’s guide, “Day Hiking Bend and Central Oregon: Mount Jefferson/ Sisters/ Cascade Lakes“.
