– Our second Army Corp of Engineers campground. We highly recommend this campground for a number of reasons, the best of which is the location. There are several hiking trails that leave right from the campground, a huge plus in our book. Throw in large and level sites perched on a hill with great views of the lake and surrounding mountains and you have a 5 star campground.

Well, were giving it 4 stars for one reason that should be solved very soon. While we were there the fresh water system was down and they were in the process of digging a new well. That is fine, but you need to notify campers that they should arrive with a full fresh water tank, but they offered no such notification.

Note this is not really close to any towns. Sante Fe is about 50 minutes and Albuquerque is an hour. It was centrally located to visit both cities and Bandalier National Monument, Kashe Kawetu Tent Rocks National Monument, Hyde Memorial State Park, Villa Nueva State Park, Sante Fe National Forest, Cibola National Forest and Los Alamos.
