Aurora, CO – Judging by this, our first state park campground, we love state park campgrounds! Priced less than the commercial places but with significantly more elbow room, you can’t go wrong. The wooded, pull thru semi-circular spots are staggered along the road to decrease visibility into adjoining sites. We stayed in site #23 (2012) and #11 (2015) and would definitely stay again. As a bonus there are turkeys and lots of other birds to watch. There is a Reservoir which allows some boating and fishing, and 12 miles of paved and 35 miles of multi-use trails for biking and hiking. More information is available on Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s website.
