Somerset, PA – Our first night RVing was spent at the Somerset service plaza along the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Unlike rest areas, service plazas are well-lit and busy 24 hours a day. We felt 100% safe. The only downside is the amount of road noise and engine noise from idling trucks. On the positive side, you can run your generator, for heat or AC, and will not be bothering your neighbors. Avoid filling up on fuel if you can as the price on the turnpike is higher than at an exit.

Rating: rating_4 (mainly because it’s free, safe and there is food and fuel co-located to the parking)
