Like it Green Ribbon Pagosa Springs, CO – This is a class A only resort that offers lot ownership, much like Bella Terra and Naples Motor Coach Resort we stayed in the South. As a general rule we rarely stay at class A only resorts, mainly because they don’t exist where we want to go. But when one is located near an area we’re visiting and is highly rated (as Wolf Run is) we’ll give it a shot. This is the first such resort that we would return to again; partly because it’s very nice, and partly because it’s located in an area we love to visit.

***UPDATE: As of July 1, 2020, we have purchased and own a spot at Wolf Creek Run Motor Coach Resort, site #17.

2020 Update: We stayed here again in June of 2020 and I’m happy to report this resort is only getting better, likely due to the new owner who took over a little over a year ago. Our site this time (#17) had properly trimmed trees, as did all other sites. Wifi is faster and much more stable than in 2018. Unfortunately, the poorly placed boulders (see 2018 review below) are still present and therefore people still park their toads partly in the road. There were planned activities including Wednesday Dinner and Friday Morning Pancake Breakfast. There is a nice patio area behind the office building. The site owners present were very friendly.

2018 Review:  Let’s start with the pros: the site was concrete, long and level and all hook ups worked well. The park grounds were well kept, everyone we met was nice and friendly, there is access to the San Juan River onsite, and the owner (Ted) makes yummy pancakes every Friday morning. But here’s the thing: for a park that only accepts long, tall motorhomes (aka class A’s), our site (#22) makes no sense. While the site is quite wide, poorly placed boulders on the drivers side force you to park your unit a good 3-4 feet from the edge (because we have to open cargo bay doors without smashing into a boulder). Now you don’t have room to park your tow car next to your unit; you have to shoe-horn it up front, with most people having part of their tow vehicles sticking out into the road. Why is this acceptable at a $100/night resort? Then an un-trimmed tree prevented us from opening our drivers side slide. Really? At a class A only resort you don’t trim trees to accommodate slides? A gentleman from maintenance did come and trim the tree, but he clearly was not happy about it. He made me hold the ladder (“that’s higher up than I usually go”) and then dropped a large limb on my head. He did not even apologize.

Large rocks prevented us from parking closer on the driver side as we would have been unable to open the wet-bay and other basement doors

Despite those negatives we would stay here again. With minimal work (mainly removing the silly boulders and trimming trees) this park could be great. We love the Pagosa Springs area which is surrounded by the San Juan & Rio Grande National Forest which include the Weminuche & South San Juan Wilderness Areas. In 2020, we hiked several trails in the Weminuche Wilderness, hiked a section of the Continental Divide Trail at Elwood Pass, and hiked a couple of other nearby trails: Piedra River and Little Blanco. We also took a scenic drive on the Plumtaw/Piedra/Williams Creek Loop.  In 2018, we enjoyed hiking the Continental Divide Trail at Wolf Creek Pass, hiking to Flattop Mountain Saddle, visiting Treasure Falls & Treasure Mountain, hiking at Reservoir Hill Park and Turkey Springs, visiting the East Fork area of the San Juan National Forest, and taking a Scenic Drive loop through the nearby Rio Grande National Forest (Wolf Creek Pass, Summitville, Continental Divide, Platoro, Chama, NM).
