Like it Green RibbonJasper, AB – A veritable city of a campground, located just 3 km from the town of Jasper. We stayed in the no-hookup loop (site 30-PP) one night and in the pull-through full hookup loop (site 50-E) three nights, and wished for more. This heavily treed campground is amazingly large and maze-like, which makes for a fairly private setting despite 800+ RVs near you. A walking path runs through through the middle of the campground, with connections to each of the loops and fun “activity stations” for kids, some with wood beams to balance on, a rock climbing wall, etc.

We stayed at this site (30-PP) for one night.

Another shot of 30-PP, which had no hook-ups, but was tucked amid the trees

For fun human watching opportunities, hang around the large (8 place!) dump station at check-out time at the end of a long weekend (Victoria Day in our case). Watch the procrastinators queue their huge rigs in every which direction, at times completely blocking the road, and act annoyed as if this simultaneous mass exodus is a shock. Bonus points for zeroing in on the rental RV people who clearly have never dumped tanks before, further backing up the log jam. And a special shoutout to the Mini Cooper owner who parked in such a way as to totally screw any RV (such as us) trying to check-in to their site during this melee.

This campground was our base to explore Jasper National Park. We visited Athabasca Falls, hiked the Valley of the Five Lakes Trail and the Overlook Trail with its views of Patricia and Pyramid Lakes, toured Maligne Canyon, Medicine Lake and hiked the Mary Schaffer Trail at Maligne Lake.
