Banff, AB – Despite the possible negative connotations of “trailer court” in the name, this is one of our favorite campgrounds. Think of any attribute you want in a campground, and this one has it. A quiet, serene, and wooded setting. Check. Mountain views in every direction. Check. Hiking trails that leave right from the campground, public transport to town, and reasonable price? Check, check and check. There are literally no drawbacks to staying here.
I highly recommend hiking the Bow Falls/Hoodoos Trail from the campground down to Banff and back, thus avoiding use of your vehicle. We also saw campers using mountain bikes on single tracks that parallel the road in many stretches. We took a day trip to Lake Louise where we rented a canoe. Another day trip to Yoho National Park took us to Emerald Lake, Wapta Falls and the Natural Bridge. We visited Bow Valley, Lake Minnewanka, and hiked the C-Level Cirque Trail and the Marsh Loop. We enjoyed the panoramic views from the top of Mt. Sulphur after riding up on the Banff Gondola. Biking the multi-use Legacy Trail between Banff and Canmore afforded excellent views of the region.
We stayed in site #717 and would highly recommend it for any size camper, even up to a 45′ bus.
