Moab, the perfect town for almost any outdoor pursuit you can name. I’ve personally done only three of the big activities here: hiking, white water rafting and 4×4 off-roading. But the mountain biking is famous here and there are endless pinnacles of rock to climb. Note that Moab, because of the popularity of the above activities, is perfectly accepting of patrons covered in red dirt at all facilities.
Nothing is walking distance from Arch View Resort, but if you want to stay closer to town, consider Canyonlands RV Resort.
- Pancake Haus – A good spot to grab pre-activity, carb-loading fuel such as pancakes. I alternate between the Blueberry Pancakes and Banana Walnut Pancakes. Karla’s had the French Toast and omlettes and enjoyed both. Service can be slow when they are busy. I should also note that I do not drink coffee so I cannot vouch for such at any breakfast place I review.
- Moab Diner – It’s a diner, so order accordingly (i.e., anything covered in gravy) and you’ll be happy. Save room for dessert.
- Miguel’s Baja Grill – A solid choice for Mexican food. Try the carne asada tacos. And yes, please do eat the hot pepper they caution you against eating. I don’t want to be the only fool.
- Eddie McStiffs – A post off-roading tradition in Moab for years is to let off steam at this area bar. Order pub grub and have a local brew and you’ll be ready for tomorrow’s adventures in no time.
- Twisted Sistas Cafe – Think non-authentic Spanish tapas and you’ll know what you’re in for. If you order properly (i.e., not something that comes from an ocean) the food is fresh and tasty. For some unknown reason I ordered calamari and received those chewy bits of flesh that cause people to hate calamari. The waitress was very nice about it, I switched to Stuffed Piquillo Peppers and all was well.
